It has been a busy few weeks. Just returned from the glorious city of Nashville. Spent a few days there playing some shows with Kelly Steward, catching up with old friends and meeting new ones. I just added a new video to the video stream page of Vie and Bun playing a bit together. It has been a rather amazing experience recording her.
Things keep moving along….. A few shows with Cameron McGill & What Army and Miles Nielsen coming up in the next few weeks, more recording with Cameron, more recording with Vie. There is probably a bunch of other things I can’t remember right now. 2010 is coming…which is kind of awkward. Time moves way too fast.
Lastly, A good friend of mine recently released a book, Denver’s Best Dive Bars: Drinking and Diving in the Mile High City. If you live in or ever plan on going to Denver you should buy it.
I forgot to bring a proper camera with to Milwaukee for this first string of recording dates, but my friend Kelly informed me about a nice Lomo iPhone application…. and here are some photos of the noise making so far…
A few days ago we did phase two of recording Vie Carlson. This time at her home in Rockford. Here are a few photos I snapped during the session.
Last week I was invited to record the newest episode on Sock Monkey Sound, a music and culture podcast based out of Rockford, IL. Check out the silliness.

Monday through Wednesday of this week were spent in this basement with these guys working on a list of songs that was taped to the wall. The new Cameron McGill & What Army is in early rumbles. Smiles, fights, love, lust, truth and lies you want to believe. I’m tired.
A couple weeks ago a friend of mine mentioned to me during a game of bumper pool that he would like to have some recordings of his mother playing piano. About a week after that we were able to make it happen and I had the privilege of getting to spend an afternoon with Vie Carlson. I drank tea while she played a countless number of songs, from memory, for the monday lunch crowd at Anderson Gardens restaurant. Occasionally stopping to chat about antiques or to pass me some candy. All i had to do was press the record button and enjoy. Here is a bit of video I took.

Recently I had the opportunity to go into the Daytrotter studios for a third time with yet a different act. This is the first time a session I did actually got posted to the website… and most importantly, the first time I was made in to a Daytrotter cartoon. baby steps.
It turned out to be a great live capturing of 4 songs, including one previously unrecorded new tune.
Please listen and enjoy the music, not because we care an awful lot about it, but because it’s free.
Miles Nielsen – lead vox/acoustic/songsmith
Andy Scarpaci – bass/vox
Micky Rosenquist – drums/vox
Nick Braun – keys
Dan McMahon – electric guitar/vox
hold tight kiddies… I’m trying to figure out how to customize the layout and content of this whole thing.
i will be coaxing Andy Whorehall in to helping me.
until then check out my Myspace Page for some goodies.
